News: Redevelopment project beautifies an unlikely landscape

Enter Blair Thornley’s latest project, an unlikely combination of form and function that city officials hail as a marker for the neighborhood’s artistic temperament. The Art on the Garage project includes 16 oversized line drawings spanning the North Park Parking Garage’s five tiers—they reflect artists hard at work in their particular discipline, like the ballerina with the overstated curve to her back and the befuddled chamber orchestra sitting down to play.

Inside the newly expanded Lestat’s on Adams Avenue, Reeves, who is a co-leader of Thursday Writers, sat down in a red plush chair by the front window. She greeted the other writers who began arriving with pen and paper or laptops. Reeves considers all of them like family, even the two new people who were dropping in for the first time.
