A force for good

Downtown residents Arlene and Richard Esgate understand the importance of giving back and strive to make a difference in San Diego and beyond.

Whether advocating for Balboa Park or serving on the board of the Mainly Mozart Festival, the Esgates put their wallets where their hearts lie. They are major donors to Childhelp, a national child-abuse prevention and treatment organization. In 2012, Childhelp gave the couple the “Founders for the Love of a Child” award for their dedication and support. Giving is what the Esgates do.

Raise Progress

The 2016 presidential election results shook up a whole lot of Californians who believe in progressive politics, and has sparked grass-roots efforts designed to make a difference in future campaigns.

A group of parents and friends, most of whom live in the Uptown and Mid-City communities, have come together to form a nonprofit called Raise Progress with the slogan: “Advancing Change. Uplifting Communities. Promoting Hope.”

When she is not in the office, Rosenthal can be found on the tennis court, or cheering for the Chicago Bears with her spouse, or walking her dog, Johann Sebastian Bark.
